HomeOccupational Therapy
Pediatric occupational therapists guide and assist children to function optimally in their major roles (known as occupations) in life. The child’s primary occupation is directly related to age. A child’s occupations include play, self care, and school related activities. The skills necessary for successful, age appropriate functioning in these occupations include, but are not limited to:
- Fine Motor and Gross Motor Coordination
- Sensory Processing
- Visual Perceptual and Visual Motor Skills
- Attention (Social & Emotional)
- Daily Living Skills
Evaluation
The occupational therapist first evaluates using a variety of methods such as standardized developmental tests, clinical observations, parent interviews and questionnaires. It is our role as therapists to provide a variety of challenges within a safe and child friendly environment. This allows the children to use their bodies in new, efficient and safe ways that will carry over into all aspects of their daily routines.
Treatment
The most important aspect of our treatment is the premise of child directed intervention. This means that the child leads the way. Intervention focuses on addressing the individual needs of the child based upon concerns of the family and evaluation findings. We use a collaborative effort with the family to create the child’s treatment plan and goals, as well as home exercise program recommendations.
We are currently looking for exceptional therapists.
